I am only renting the car for 2 hours, should I buy TribeShield?

For a limited time, TribeShield is available from just S$0.70/hour (usual S$1.31/hour). For greater protection and priority claim payout, you may choose TribeShield Plus from S$0.90/hour (usual S$1.91/hour).
A small additional cost can provide valuable peace of mind throughout your journey.
How do I opt-in for TribeShield and how much does it cost?
Simply select TribeShield under Additional Coverage when making your booking.

Is it applicable for all vehicles under Tribecar?
Most Tribecar vehicles are eligible for TribeShield and TribeShield Plus protection, with the exception of motorcycles. You can select your preferred protection option under Additional Coverage before the commencement of your booking. Protection is not included by default and must be added before your trip starts.
Do I need to pay more as a New Driver if I opt-in for TribeShield?
No. TribeShield and TribeShield Plus cost the same for all members, regardless of whether you are a New Driver or an Experienced Driver.
What is the difference between Tribecar's CDW and TribeShield?
CDW reduces your insurance excess by a percentage in the event of an accident.
TribeShield and TribeShield Plus are excess reimbursement plans. You will first pay the applicable insurance excess and submit a claim thereafter. Upon successful claim approval, TribeShield or TribeShield Plus will reimburse the eligible claim amount according to your selected protection plan.
Is TribeShield and PAI the same thing?
No. Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) provides coverage for accidental death, permanent disability and medical expenses arising from an accident. TribeShield and TribeShield Plus help reduce your financial burden by reimbursing eligible insurance excess claims arising from vehicle damage in an accident.
What is the process of claiming and how do I claim for TribeShield or TribeShield Plus?
In the event of an accident, you must first report the accident at Tribecar's appointed reporting centre and pay the applicable insurance excess.
Once the required documentation is available, submit your claim to Tribecar at support@tribecar.com. Upon successful claim approval, reimbursement will be processed according to your selected protection plan.
For TribeShield Plus, eligible claims may enjoy priority claim payout within 1 year from the GIA report date, without the need to wait for insurance discharge.
What are the exclusions that do not qualify you to make a claim under TribeShield or TribeShield Plus?
Claims may not be eligible if:
• The applicable insurance excess has not been paid in full.
• A GIA report has not been lodged.
• The primary motor insurance policy has not been activated.
• The accident was settled privately.
• The protection add-on was not selected before the commencement of the booking.
• The claim is found to be fraudulent or contains false or misleading information.
• The vehicle was used for illegal or unlawful activities.
• The driver was found to be speeding, driving recklessly, driving under the influence, or engaging in unsafe or unlawful driving behaviour leading up to the accident.
If I have privately settled with the third party involved, can I still claim under TribeShield or TribeShield Plus?
No. Private settlements operate outside standard insurance frameworks. Because no primary motor insurance claim gets filed or validated, processing an excess reimbursement claim will not be possible.
